我校毕业生徐子翔博士荣获2024年度Kirkman奖

2025年5月,国际组合数学及其应用协会(Institute of Combinatorics and its Applications, ICA)公布了2024年度各奖项获奖名单。我校博士毕业生徐子翔因其在极值组合及相关领域的杰出研究成果,荣获2024年度Kirkman奖。
Kirkman奖是ICA自1994年设立的重要奖项,旨在表彰博士毕业不超过四年、在组合数学及其应用方向取得优异研究成果的青年学者,每年授予不超过两人。
徐子翔本科毕业于浙江大学,2022年博士毕业于首都师范大学,师从葛根年教授。在校期间曾获得2019年、2021年国家奖学金,首都师范大学首届校长奖学金。现于韩国基础科学研究院从事博士后研究工作。
徐子翔博士在极值图论、离散几何、VC维理论等方向取得了一系列重要成果。他的研究广泛融合极值组合、概率方法、代数方法与几何思想,并致力于在离散数学、几何、信息理论等多个方向建立深层联系。解决了知名数学家Noga Alon、David Conlon等人提出的若干猜想,并改进了许多重要极值组合问题的理论界结果。

Zixiang Xu has made several contributions to extremal combinatorics and related fields. His remarkable body of work includes the development of novel techniques in the study of bipartite Turán problems, the resolution of several important graph and hypergraph Turán problems, and the establishment of a bridge between the chromatic threshold problem in extremal graph theory and the (p,q)-theorem in discrete geometry. He also added a new twist to the classic linear algebra method, and provided elegant and short proofs for the stability results of the celebrated Erdős–Ko–Rado theorem, and Kleitman's theorem on the maximum cardinality of anticodes, and improved the longstanding Frankl–Pach upper bound for uniform set systems with bounded VC-dimension.
Dr. Zixiang Xu has authored 27 academic papers, with 16 of them successfully published, most of which appeared in the top journals in the fields of combinatorics and coding theory. He has also delivered more than 30 academic presentations on various universities and institutes. With extremal combinatorics as his primary research focus, his research interests also extend to geometry, algebra, and coding theory. A striking feature of his research is the ability of bridging together problems and methods from different disciplines.
