Abstract : 

Recently, Hone, Novikov and Wang have given a list of generalized short pulse equations which are integrable. Among them, the short pulse equation, the modifified short pulse equation, the Hunter-Saxton equation and the reduced Ostrovsky equation have been known previously and studied in the literature. In this talk, we will focus on two generalized short pulse (gSP) equations which are not known until Hone et al.’s work. We will first present their bilinearizations and multi-soliton solutions which are reduced from 3-reduction of negative BKP/CKP hierarchies. There is a Miura transformation between the solutions of these two gSP equations same as the Miura transformation between the Kaup-Kuperschmidt (KK) equation and the modifified Kaup-Kuperschmidt (KK) equation. We then construct their integrable semi-discretizations based on their connections of 3-reduction of negative BKP/CKP hierarchies.
