Title: A proof of Toponogov's theorem in Alexandrov geometry
Speaker: 王雨生教授 (北京师范大学)

Abstract

In the talk, we will provide a new proof for Toponogov's theorem (in the large) in Alexandrov geometry with lower curvature bound.

The idea of the proof comes from the fact that, in Riemannian geometry, the sectional curvature can be seen from geodesic variations (i.e. the second variation formula). This is a joint work with HU Shengqi and SU Xiaole.
