摘要:In 1867, the geometer Pierre-Ossian Bonnet stated and solved the following problem: to determine all surfaces applicable on a given surface while conserving the principal radii of curvature. We show that the moving frame equations of these Bonnet surfaces naturally define a second order, isomonodromic matrix Lax pair of the sixth Painlev/'e equation, much simpler than the one of Jimbo and Miwa.
