Title: The evolution of the unitary groups, a brief review

Abstract

The study of unitary groups has a long history, which goes back to 18th and 19th century. In the first part of the current talk, we are going to review some moments of impact in the developing of the unitary groups, including the contributions by Anthony bak, Victor Petrov and Egor Voronetsky, which significantly improve our understanding of the unitary groups. Sandwich classification and commutator formula are central problems in the structure theory of unitary groups. We will discuss some recent results, obtained jointly with N. Vavilov and R. Hazrat, closely related to these problems above in the last decade. Our talk will be ended by several open problems in the area.

报告人简介：张祖宏，北京理工大学数学与统计学院副教授，英国贝尔法斯特女王大学博士学位，德国比勒菲尔德博士后。主要研究代数K理论，分次代数，环上的酉群及其结构等，在Isr. J. Math，J. Algebra，J. Pure Appl. Algebra等国际知名杂志发表学术论文20余篇，并先后赴德国柏林自由大学、比勒菲尔德大学、英国贝尔法斯特女王学术访问。
