Abstract: In this talk, the time-asymptotic stability of viscous shocks for the 1-d Navier-Stokes equations are considered, where the initial perturbations are periodic functions with zero averages. Since the periodic perturbations are not integrable on the whole space and keep oscillating at the far field, a suitable ansatz is carefully constructed to carry the infinite oscillations of the solution, so that the anti-derivative method and energy method can be utilized. These works are joint with Feimin Huang and Yuan Yuan.
