Distribution of point sets over sphere has been attracted not only by mathematicians but also by physicists and engineers. In this talk, a short introduction on different point sets over the unit sphere is given.
We mainly discussed a series of spherical optimization problems. We show geometric properties, algebraic characterizations and open problems of well known point sets. Furthermore, we draw our attention on numerical integration over the unit sphere by employing these point sets as quadrature nodes. Then, various integrands are introduced and analyzed.
In particular, we investigate singular integral and oscillatory integral over the unit sphere. Moreover, theoretical and numerical results are demonstrated vividly by using many nodes over the unit sphere.
