摘要:Precise information on lifespan sometimes tells us how nonlinearity affects large time behavior of solutions to nonlinear evolution equations. As pointed out by John and Hoermander in 1987, there are surprising connections between the lifespan and the null condition for quadratic nonlinear wave equations in three space dimensions.
In this talk, I will provide an analogous lifespan estimate for cubic derivative nonlinear Schroedinger equations in one space dimension, and discuss how it could give a unified understanding of many previous results on small data global existence for 1D cubic NLS. This talk is based on a joint work with Yuji Sagawa (Osaka University).
